Hargee's Silk Dupioni Baltic
Silk is a natural fiber, spun by the silkworms. It is vulnerable to sun rot and fading, finished project should be kept out of direct sunlight. Dupioni silk requires low heat setting and can be damaged if pressed at too high a temperature. Fabric should be pressed from the back and always tested on a small area first to establish optimum heat setting. It should be Dry Cleaned only, never washed. It is a soft textile prone to fraying, it will benefit from a lightweight fusible interfacing. Interfacing should be applied with medium heat setting before the fabric is cut. A press cloth is recommended and a light water spray. Blotting motion with the iron works best, avoid sliding the iron on the fabric. Silk is a fine fiber with low density or loft. By nature, it has tendency to slide when sewn. A shortened stitch length is useful for keeping looser weave in place. A Microtex sharp 80 or 90 size needle will work best for satisfactory results.
